This collection consists of the records of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Locals 171 and 892 and those of the Carpenter's District Council of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Mercer Counties (MTMDC), which had its headquarters on Rayen, Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio. The collection contains a wide variety of records, including correspondence, form letters, contracts, minutes, financial records, membership lists, resolutions, printed materials, and photographs.

The Carpenters' Local 171 was formed in 1886 in Youngstown, Ohio, to protect the interests of carpenters and other skilled workers in related trades.
